Lipschitz Geometry Does Not Determine Embedded Topological Type

چکیده
We investigate the relationships between the Lipschitz outer geometry and the embedded topological type of a hypersurface germ in (Cn, 0). It is well known that the Lipschitz outer geometry of a complex plane curve germ determines and is determined by its embedded topological type. We prove that this does not remain true in higher dimensions. Namely, we give two normal hypersurface germs (X1, 0) and (X2, 0) in (C3, 0) having the same outer Lipschitz geometry and different embedded topological types. Our pair consist of two superisolated singularities whose tangent cones form an Alexander-Zariski pair having only cusp-singularities. Our result is based on a description of the Lipschitz outer geometry of a superisolated singularity. We also prove that the Lipschitz inner geometry of a superisolated singularity is completely determined by its (non embedded) topological type, or equivalently by the combinatorial type of its tangent cone.

What Happens to a Manifold Under a Bi-Lipschitz Map?
We study geometric and topological properties of the image of a smooth submanifold of Runder a bi-Lipschitz map to R. In particular, we characterize how the dimension, diameter, volume, and reach of the embedded manifold relate to the original. Our main result establishesa lower bound on the reach of the embedded manifold in the case where m ≤ n and the bi-Lipschitz map is li...

متن کاملA numerical solution of mixed Volterra Fredholm integral equations of Urysohn type on non-rectangular regions using meshless methods
In this paper, we propose a new numerical method for solution of Urysohn two dimensional mixed Volterra-Fredholm integral equations of the second kind on a non-rectangular domain. The method approximates the solution by the discrete collocation method based on inverse multiquadric radial basis functions (RBFs) constructed on a set of disordered data. The method is a meshless method, because it ...
متن کاملLipschitz Geometry of Complex Curves
We describe the Lipschitz geometry of complex curves. For the most part this is well known material, but we give a stronger version even of known results. In particular, we give a quick proof, without any analytic restrictions, that the outer Lipschitz geometry of a germ of a complex plane curve determines and is determined by its embedded topology. This was first proved by Pham and Teissier, b...
متن کاملTopological Map Merging
When multiple robots cooperatively explore an environment, maps from individual robots must be merged to produce a single globally consistent map. This is a difficult problem when the robots do not have a common reference frame or global positioning. In this paper, we describe an algorithm for merging embedded topological maps. Topological maps provide a concise description of the navigability ...
